“Trauma
2008” – an International Conference, CME cum Live Workshop &
Inaugural Conference of the Indian Society for Trauma and Acute Care
(ISTAC®) was organized under the chairmanship of Prof. M.C. Misra. The theme of the conference was “Resuscitation to Rehabilitation”. The
conference was inaugurated by the chief guest Lt. Governor Hon’ble Shri
Tejendra Khanna. The main attraction of the inauguration ceremony was a
panel discussion on “Injury prevention and Road Safety” by eminent
panelists representing all sections of the society. This was followed
by a night of Melody by renowned Vocalist Padmashree Shri Hariharan.
This was a unique congress bringing
in all the specialists working in the field of trauma under one roof.
This was for the first time that a conference dedicated to trauma care
was organized under the leadership of Apex Trauma center AIIMS. Seven
concurrent workshops (ABCDE of Trauma; Maxillo-facial Workshop; Trauma
radiology workshop; Neuro-trauma workshop, Cost-effective
computerization in hospital, Trauma nurse coordinator and Physiotherapy
Workshops) interactive lectures, symposia, and panel discussions were
attended by more than 700 delegates and 100 international and national
faculties. Trauma nurse coordinator workshop and Physiotherapy workshop
were the highlights of the conference and were especially organized for
the first time to spread a message about holistic care of a trauma
victim. Postgraduate medical students, nurses and technicians were
awarded for best research paper presentations. The conference was
considered a huge success as reflected by the feedback forms received
from delegates. |
